Each year, more than 300 000 people die worldwide due to fire-related injuries. Poor possibilities for adequate treatment are leaving several times as many people disabled or with a reduced quality of life. A large portion of the victims are women or children. The fire safety standard in low- or middle-income countries, both in residental dwellings and in industrial facilities, is in many cases below what we can comprehend
