DSR – Digital Support for the Fire and Rescue Services
The project constitutes a preliminary study regarding the development of digital support tools for the fire and rescue services. This support may also include AI-based solutions. The project was co-funded in equal parts by Brandforsk and the Fire Protection Association West (Brandskyddsföreningen Väst), and was carried out in collaboration between Brandforsk and the National Development Centre (NUC) at the Greater Gothenburg Fire and Rescue Service (Räddningstjänsten Storgöteborg).
The work was conducted through workshops involving participants from six different fire and rescue services, as well as several subject matter experts. A needs analysis was performed as the basis for three proposed digital tools for the fire and rescue services. These tools may also include AI-based support. To evaluate the potential of the proposed tools across other fire and rescue services in Sweden, a survey was conducted with 60 respondents from various services across the country.
The needs analysis aimed to assess the benefits of a new digital tool in relation to achieving one or more of the following goals: saving time, saving money, improving quality, and increasing effectiveness within the three main missions of the fire and rescue services – saving lives, the environment, and property.
